* Even though Medusa can hunt down Spiderlings easily when given enough range, after an Incapacitating Bite she will get her swarmed in no time.
* Medusa usual do not build a BKB to benefit from Mana Shield fully while Broodmother can fit a Diffusal Blade to burn away mana.
Additional:
* Incapacitating Bite will give Medusa a dire time to clear horde of small spiderlings or retaliate Broodmother herself.
* Spin Web will allow broodmother to pick her own fights and sometimes slip away to ambush Medusa.
Juggernaut
[wiki] rating: 1.6 (winrate: 52% pickrate: 18%)Medusa

* In general, heroes such as Lion,
Silencer,

Medusa
* Medusa lacks mobility or escape mechanisms. Earth Spike and Hex can neutralize her strong damage potential and allow for Lion's team to focus her down.
* In addition to easily breaking her commonly bought Linken's Sphere with its low cooldown, Mana Drain can quickly drain her
Mana Shield, making her far less tanky.
Phantom Lancer
[wiki] rating: 1.6 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 9%)Medusa
* Phantom Lancer with Diffusal Blade will very quickly burn Medusa's mana, making Mana Shield significantly less effective.

Silencer
[wiki] rating: 1.6 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 7%)Techies
* In general, heroes such as Lion,
Silencer,
Skywrath Mage,
Sven,
Ogre Magi and others with reliable disables are crucial to killing Techies before they can suicide.

* Silencer burns easily through her effective hp from Mana Shield, by taking away her int.
* Arcane Curse punishes her repeatedly casting
Mystic Snake to keep her mana pool high. Can force her to use
Manta Style before he has cast
Global Silence and
Medusa usually does not want to build
Black King Bar.

Arc Warden
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 53% pickrate: 5%)Medusa
* Unlike other illusion heroes, Tempest Double won't be instantly destroyed by Stone Gaze since it is considered a clone and not an illusion.
* He can use either his own or his double's Flux to bypass the spellblock from Linken's Sphere, using the leftover Flux +
Spark Wraith to slow Medusa's move speed to a crawl.
* Arc Warden has a farming advantage with double Hand of Midas, and can generally bully Medusa with other items that benefit from duplication.
Night Stalker
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 53% pickrate: 5%)Techies
* With Dark Ascension Night Stalker gains unobstructed vision during night-time allowing him to easily detect mines if he has a
Gem of True Sight, but Night Stalker is a melee hero so he has to use
Quelling Blade to safely defuse Remote Mines and Stasis Trap.
* Dark Ascension also allows Night Stalker to fly over Proximity Mines without triggering them.
* Crippling Fear is effective in stopping Techies from using Blast Off! and
Void is effective in stopping them from running to the safety of their mines.
Abaddon
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 53% pickrate: 4%)Techies
* Borrowed Time's automatic activation will help Abaddon survive a massive Remote Mines explosion; however, the damage from a single one can kill him if his HP is low enough.
Additional:
* Aphotic Shield makes it less likely for allies to be killed by mines.
* Because they explode in very short intervals, a stack of Remote Mines will always trigger Borrowed Time, making them impossible to kill Abaddon unless his resistances are lowered enough or Abaddon is affected by Break.
* Abaddon can easily dispel the long-lasting root of Stasis Trap on himself and on an ally, while at the same also providing protection against the other mines' damage.
Pugna
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 53% pickrate: 4%)Medusa
* Nether Ward will cause an unfriendly area for Medusa, draining her mana.
Wraith King
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 52% pickrate: 18%)Techies
* Due to Reincarnation and his general tankiness he can live through at least one major Remote Mines stack or Blast Off!.
* Special mention for a bug with his Aghanim's Scepter. If enemies get killed from your mines under the effect of "Wraith Delay", they get denied instead of crediting the kill to you.
Additional:
* Wraith King is not afraid to walk into mines, whenever he goes with his Reincarnation ready.
Bane
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 3%)Medusa
* Fiend's Grip provides mana drain, which can heavily damage Mana Shield and prevent Medusa from using
Stone Gaze.
* Even if she does use Stone Gaze, Nightmare can buy enough time to protect allies and reset the fight.
Additional:
* His Fiend's Grip will leave Medusa defenseless after he's done, if his teammates can provide cover for him or he initiates at the right time by Spell immunity.
Ursa
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 16%)Medusa
* Medusa's tankiness doesn't help her very much against Fury Swipes in long teamfights.
* With no escape mechanism and a slow movement speed, getting jumped on by Ursa usually spells a quick end for Medusa in the early game.
Additional:
* Ursa's status resistance from Enrage will ignore Medusa's gaze.
* Ursa can stack damage with Fury Swipes easily against her Mana Shield in a prolonged team match.
Death Prophet
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 4%)Techies
* Exorcism's ghosts will automatically clear all Proximity Mines revealed when Death Prophet walks near them, provided that the ghosts do not have a specific target at that time.

* Refraction can be very useful in safely navigating potentially mined choke points and rune spawns.
Venomancer
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 5%)Techies
* Plague Wards may reveal a hiding Techies. If there's a sentry nearby, they may also reveal a stack of mines hidden in a juking spot.
Oracle
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 9%)Techies
* Since Techies' skills are all magical damage, casting Fate's Edict immediately upon hearing the warning sound from Proximity Mines and
Blast Off! can render Oracle or an ally immune to the burst damage from these skills.
* If timed correctly, Remote Mines can also be countered using the same technique.
Additional:
* Fate's Edict gives 100% magic resistance, which prevents most of Techies' damage and his
Fortune's End dispels Stasis Trap root.
Chaos Knight
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 3%)Techies
* Phantasm's illusions can be used to push towers and force Techies to detonate Remote Mines.

* Chaos Knight can easily kill a lone Techies before they Blast Off!.
Batrider
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 5%)Techies
* As long as Batrider is under the effects of Firefly, he can safely fly over mines.
* Sticky Napalm also punishes low mobility heroes that like to kite, such as Techies, by lowering their turn rate dramatically. This can also potentially delay Techies' Blast Off! if Techies tries to cast Blast Off! in a direction he's not currently facing.
Additional:
* As long as Batrider is under the effect of Firefly, he can safely fly over Proximity Miness (He does not receive vision over the mines).
Zeus
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 9%)Techies
* Due to the fact that Lightning Bolt gives True Sight, Zeus is able to reveal where Techies' remote mines are. He can also cancel Blast Off! due to the mini-stun on the Lightning Bolt.
Sniper
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 6%)Medusa
* Medusa is a fairly immobile hero that deals damage around her with Split Shot. Sniper should outrange her and should stay out of harm's way from Split Shot.
* More importantly, Sniper should have enough attack range to fire at Medusa during her Stone Gaze without turning to stone, so the ultimate is mostly wasted against him.
Additional:
* Sniper can outrange both Medusa's arrows and Stone Gaze, allowing him to focus her down during a teamfight.
Shadow Demon
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 2%)Techies
* Shadow Demon's spammable illusions can be used to scout Techies' Proximity Mines. The illusion of your carries can be even used to trick Techies into detonating his precious
Remote Mines.
Rubick
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 47% pickrate: 17%)Medusa
* Because of her need to get status items early to tank it up, Rubick can greatly reduce her damage early with Fade Bolt
* Her stationary nature and the slow cast time of her spells makes it easier for Rubick to steal Stone Gaze or
Mystic Snake
* Aghanim's Scepter's Mystic Snake is often better used by Rubick than by Medusa
Slark
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 47% pickrate: 13%)Medusa
* Medusa cannot chase Slark in any way and has no disable beyond her ultimate, making her unable to stop him getting away and regenerating before coming back to finish her off.
* Essence Shift removes 1 of every attribute, lowering Medusa's mana pool's cap and leaving her much more vulnerable in prolonged fights.
Additional:
* Medusa is especially vulnerable to Essence Shift, as both strength and intelligence contribute to her effective HP, while agility contributes to her damage.
* Dark Pact when timed right can be used to dispel Stone Gaze right after it petrifies Slark, allowing him to keep attacking Medusa throughout the duration.
Nature's Prophet
[wiki] rating: 1.0 (winrate: 45% pickrate: 7%)Techies
* Equipped with Necronomicon 3,
Sentry Ward or a
Gem of True Sight, Nature's Prophet can use Teleportation to position himself outside the reach of Techies'
Remote Mines to clear them.
* Treants are useful in clearing Land Mines and
Remote Mines.

[wiki] rating: 0.6 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 19%)Techies
* Techies struggles early game against heroes with naturally large strength and health regeneration such as Pudge,
Axe or
Ogre Magi, as the player is forced to lay down more mines than usual to kill these bulkier heroes.
Additional:
* Pudge is the perfect hero for tanking mines, as Flesh Heap grants him lots of strength.
* Techies' high ground defense can be bypassed by Pudge hooking his enemies to him.
* Techies usually sits in the trees during the laning stage, setting up Proximity Mines. Meat Hook can easily pull them out and set them up for a kill.

[wiki] rating: 0.4 (winrate: 56% pickrate: 7%)Techies
* Call of the Wild Hawk can scout Techies as they are placing mines.
* Call of the Wild Boar can clear Proximity Mines.
* The stun of Primal Roar will usually be enough to deal with the squishy Techies before they can try to suicide with Blast Off!.
Medusa
* Heroes with Linken's Sphere as core item: Weaver,
Morphling,
Medusa.
Nyx Assassin
[wiki] rating: 0.4 (winrate: 54% pickrate: 14%)Medusa
* With her passive Split Shot, Medusa can be easily interrupted by Spiked Carapace during combat, especially during her precious
Stone Gaze.
* Mana Burn quickly destroys Mana Shield, especially if Medusa only increases her mana pool by bolstering intelligence (which has the added bonus of increasing Mana Burn's damage).
* Uncontrollable damage from Mystic Snake and
Split Shot can trigger Spiked Carapace.
* Medusa lacks single target damage, making a Burrowed Nyx Assassin hard to kill.
Additional:
* Level 4 Mana Burn burns 38,5% of Medusa's mana every 4 seconds if Medusa only increases her mana pool with intelligence. Additionally, 60% of the
Mana Burn damage gets mitigated by Mana Shield, burning even more mana.
* Due to the passive nature of Mystic Snake and Split Shot, it can possibly proc Nyx's Spiked Carapace if he's within range of Medusa's abilities and isn't invisible.
* Medusa lacks single target damage, making Nyx with Aghanim's Scepter extremely hard to deal with if Medusa is the team's main damage source.
Techies
* Techies is very good against roaming supports and gankers such as Bounty Hunter,
Riki,
Weaver,
Earthshaker,
Nyx Assassin, etc. that are constantly moving around the map.
Riki
[wiki] rating: 0.4 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 15%)Medusa
* He won't be around waiting for Medusa to Stone Gaze and pin him until she bears a true sight.
* With Smoke Screen, Riki will silence and catch Medusa in a surprise with high miss chance flushing her from positions easily in team fights.
* He can still deal huge amount of damage through Cloak and Dagger via backstabs, drying out Medusa's protection in a whim at random occassions.
Techies
* Techies is very good against roaming supports and gankers such as Bounty Hunter,
Riki,
Weaver,
Earthshaker,
Nyx Assassin, etc. that are constantly moving around the map.
Meepo
[wiki] rating: -2.0 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 1%)Medusa
* Poof won't damage Medusa and he can Gaze an entire flock of Meepos.
* Mystic Snake will easily become the bane of Meepo early game.
Techies
* Due to the nature of Divided We Stand and the playstyle of splitting up multiple Meepos across the map, Techies can limit Meepo's movement with mines forcing the Meepo player to either keep all Meepos together or be extra careful when moving each individual Meepo because clones cannot carry any True Sight-providing item.
* However, if a mine blast isn't enough to kill a Meepo, he can Poof to safety of another Meepo.
Additional:
* Stasis Trap can lock multiple Meepos in place and prevent them from Poofing.
* Proximity Mines,
Remote Mines and
Blast Off! can deal heavy magic damage to multiple Meepos.
Bloodseeker
[wiki] rating: -2.0 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 4%)Techies

* Untouchable is ignored by secondary attacks from Split Shot.
Ember Spirit
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 9%)Techies
* Ember Spirit relies on his Fire Remnant to keep a steady push and then retreat to a safe distance. Keeping two or three patches of Remote Mines on a lane will severely impair him from pushing that lane without risking his life.
Morphling
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 13%)Techies
* Morphling usually has low max health due to shifting strength into agility, making him an easy target to blow up.
Doom
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 3%)Medusa
* Doom does not disable Mana Shield. As such, Doom's damage is largely mitigated by her mana shield. Additionally, Medusa is not reliant on her abilities to be effective during a teamfight, making Medusa an unproductive hero to target.
* Medusa is an ideal Linken's Sphere carrier. Should one be purchased, and without any additional disables, Doom may find that few opportunities exist to effectively lockdown, disable, and kill Medusa.
Storm Spirit
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 11%)Techies
* If Storm Spirit isn't careful, he could fall into a trap set by Techies and another hero acting as bait.
* Stasis Trap roots Storm Spirit for 2/3/4/5 seconds, which could be the end of Storm Spirit since he can't use Ball Lightning to escape.
Pangolier
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 49% pickrate: 9%)Medusa
* Split Shot will keep attacking Pangolier even when he is rolling around.

* Split Shot can destroy Tombstone Zombies and Tombstone itself while still damaging heroes.
* Mana Shield reduces the impact of Decay and Flesh Golem's Plague Aura.
Hoodwink
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 16%)Techies
* remote mines are frequently placed in trees, and can thus kill an unwary Hoodwink should she
Scurry away due to her low HP pool.
* Blast Off! can clear out trees, denying the tactical advantages from Scurry.
Luna
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 4%)Techies
* Luna has low HP, low range and often stalks through jungle. She cannot properly disarm Proximity Mines and could fall victim to their traps.
* Of course, if Luna happens to catch Techies off-guard, they won't be able to survive for long against Eclipse, Lucent Beam, and right-clicks.
Spirit Breaker
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 8%)Medusa
* If Medusa activates Stone Gaze, the charge will inevitably fail.
* Mana Shield and overall tankiness allows Medusa to easily survive Spirit Breaker's initiation.
Necrophos
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 3%)Medusa
* Mana Shield tanks most of the damage from Reaper's Scythe; with sufficient mana, the kill threshold drops to 15%/17%/19% health (before reductions).
* Heartstopper Aura does not chip away at Medusa's mana, this makes it not a threat as it deals damage based on current health.
* Necrophos has a movement speed equal to Medusa, and is easy to chase down with a slowing item in Medusa's inventory.
Monkey King
[wiki] rating: -1.0 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 17%)Techies
* Proximity Mines and
Stasis Traps can be placed near trees to detect Monkey King.
* Follow up with Blast Off! to destroy the tree, causing Monkey King to take high damage, fall from the tree, and become stunned.
Additional:
* Techies can turn his tree jumping ability against him, by placing Proximity Mines/Stasis Traps that will detect him near trees, and then destroying the trees around him with Blast Off!, stunning him and dealing high damage, on top of him being silenced when the stun expires.
* Monkey King's mobility is also severely limited around Techies' mines as he will almost always trigger them due to the cooldown time between tree jumps. Monkey King will be forced to take mine damage or escape with Primal Spring.

* Mana Shield negates much of Sven's burst damage.

[wiki] rating: -0.4 (winrate: 47% pickrate: 3%)Medusa
* Heroes that build Diffusal Blade or can fit it well into their item build will also make Medusa much less tanky:
Riki,
Naga Siren,
Terrorblade,
Juggernaut,
Spectre,
Slark,

Medusa
* Stone Gaze negates Dispersion's damage reduction and allows Medusa to kite Spectre.
* Spectre's small mana pool is depleted quickly by Mystic Snake.

Axe
[wiki] rating: -0.4 (winrate: 47% pickrate: 9%)Techies

* Any hero with a low HP pool is easy for Tinker to nuke down: Crystal Maiden,
Enchantress,
Gyrocopter,
Lion,
Riki,
Techies,
Terrorblade,
Necrophos,
Invoker.
Techies
* A common playstyle among Tinkers is to teleport to a lane creep using Boots of Travel and immediately blink into the trees to cast
March of the Machines. If Techies can predict where said Tinker would blink after teleporting, he could place strategic Proximity Mines or even Remote Mines in those places. Stasis Traps also prevent Tinker from blinking or teleporting away.
Enigma
[wiki] rating: -0.4 (winrate: 55% pickrate: 6%)Techies
* Heroes with summons like Broodmother,
Enigma,
Invoker,
Nature's Prophet,
Lycan,
Visage;or illusions, like
Naga Siren,
Phantom Lancer,
Terrorblade are effective at keeping the choke points and rune spawns safe from Proximity mines in the early game.
Medusa
* Medusa's Split Shot can make quick work of Enigma's Eidolons and take advantage of their considerable bounty.
* If Medusa activates Stone Gaze at the start of a fight, it can make initiating — and landing an effective Black Hole exceedingly difficult.
* Mystic Snake can be potentially detrimental to Enigma's initiation. Getting hit by the latter high-damage bounces (from standing behind his Eidolons or his teammates) can hinder his mana pool, preventing him from executing a strong initiation.
Additional:
* Mana Shield makes Medusa harder to kill with Enigma's Black Hole and Pulse combo.
* Medusa's Split Shot can kill Demonic Conversion creeps easier and Mystic Snake bounces off from them.
* Stone Gaze makes it hard for Enigma to approach Medusa for a Black Hole.

Terrorblade are effective at keeping the choke points and rune spawns safe from Proximity mines in the early game.
Additional:
* He can send wolves to defuse Proximity Mines, and he can catch up Techies and kill him before they can deny themselves. Even if the suicide is successful, Lycan can still survive because of his tankiness.
Medusa
* Her Mana Shield is too tough for Lycan to break in.
* Mystic Snake can hit for a massive damage once it spread between his summons.
Additional:
* Can be easily petrified despite his speed.
* Summoned wolves will be targeted by Split Shot or Mystic Snake
Chen
[wiki] rating: -0.2 (winrate: 46% pickrate: 0%)Techies
* His creeps can trigger Proximity Mines and
Stasis Trap, wasting them.
Additional:
* Holy Persuasion creeps can be used to clear mines.
* If Chen has an Aghanim's Scepter he can send his Ancient creeps to defuse visible Remote Mines with little risk of giving up their bounties because their magic resistance is extremely high.
* Due to their high magic resistance, siege creeps are the best possible creep to persuade for scouting and killing mines.
Techies
* Heroes with damage burst can often kill Chen or his allies before he can use Hand of God: Lina,
Techies,
Shadow Fiend,
Pugna,
Nyx Assassin.
Medusa
* Heroes with cleave abilities and area of effect damage can make quick work of Chen's converted creeps and at same time gain farm: Magnus,
Jakiro,
Shadow Fiend,
Kunkka,
Luna,
Dragon Knight,
Medusa,
Alchemist.
Lifestealer
[wiki] rating: 0.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 5%)Techies
* Lifestealer's Rage lets him clear Remote Mines and Proximity Mines with proper vision.
Additional:
* Rage protects Lifestealer from all of Techies' magic damage and disables and dispels Stasis Trap's debuff .
* Usually teams will have a hard time pushing high-ground against Techies, but Lifestealer can just pop Rage and walk uphill without fear of Techies.
Medusa
* Lifestealer's low mobility makes him easy to kite.
* Stone Gaze pierces Rage, wasting its cooldown and making Lifestealer unable to fight.
Slardar
[wiki] rating: 0.0 (winrate: 48% pickrate: 6%)Medusa
* Other heroes who has armor and slow debuffs won't allow Medusa to disengage from combat: Tidehunter,
Bristleback,
Slardar.
Medusa
* Medusa cares less than other heroes about armor reduction, since
Mana Shield blocks 70% of all damage without taking armor/magic resistance into consideration. This makes 60% of your Corrosive Haze ineffective until Medusa's mana is drained.
Weaver
[wiki] rating: 0.0 (winrate: 50% pickrate: 8%)Medusa
* Other heroes with mana burning or manipulating abilities will make Medusa much less tanky: Lion,
Mirana,
Weaver.
Techies
* Techies is very good against roaming supports and gankers such as Bounty Hunter,
Riki,
Weaver,
Earthshaker,
Nyx Assassin, etc. that are constantly moving around the map.
Visage
[wiki] rating: 0.0 (winrate: 51% pickrate: 1%)Techies
* Summon Familiars can scout Techies as they are placing mines. They even trigger Stasis Trap.
Medusa
* Summoned gargoyles will give Medusa free target practice.
* Mana Shield will resist Soul Assumption instances without effort.

About
This website was made to help you in pick stage of online game Dota 2. It calculates rating for each possible counterpicks based on tips from web-based database made up entirely of user contributions Dota 2 wiki.
You will get the list of recommended hero counters with a list of tips written by Dota 2 wiki contributors explaining why it's good against the particular hero. In comparison to other similar websites, which show only rating based on average hero winrate from dotabuff or similar service.
How to interpret this data
Take it with a bit of grain of salt, especially if the recommendation has a low rating (<= 1), some heroes
may win a lane in an early game but would lose in late game (and vice versa). That's why sometimes
you could hero names appearing as a counter and as being countered, as on image:
You can also add your own tips, update old data and fix mistakes by editing page on Dota 2 Wiki (it works like Wikipedia - anyone can contribute, you don't even need to register) these edits will appear on this website automatically (data is updated several times per week).
Right now there is no app/overlay that will detect picks automatically (like overwolf dota plus or become the gamer), instead, you can open web version in a steam in-game browser or use mobile version on your smartphone.

Counterspell Anti-Mage can fight Techies head on and trip multiple mines once the late game hits.

Stone Gaze with Blink, and can reinitiate after its duration is over.
Mana Break burns Medusa's mana easily, especially when coupled with a
Manta Style.
Blink, burning her mana or forcing her to use Stone Gaze.
Mana Void is effective against Medusa's big mana pool and mana usage, presenting a huge hazard to Medusa's allies around her since her Mana Shield still gives her some protection if she has mana.
